Jozef Behr and His Heart Trenching Story of Educating His Girl Child in African Region

I saw my child struggling to get an education, she half-seat sit with their back against the wall on a muddy land and take out her torn-old notebook on the lap to support and write her lessons” Jozef Behr- a 38 years old father from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Jozef Behr is a farmer in the south Kivu, living with his family. He struggled a lot to give her girl child named Neema an educated lifestyle. He took her daughter to the nearby school in the village and enroll her. However, the condition of that school is very drastic but Jozef Behr has no option left.  While talking about the environment of the school he said “the school is made of white clay on the bamboo frame that is not enough to protect children from heavy rain that is quite often in plateau region”. He was so compelled that time without any other choice but to admission her daughter in that school because that is the one and only school in the region. Mr. Jozef Clifford Behr explains the future environment of the school with a heavy heart he says “the school has no window for sunlight or fresh air, entering within the school appears only darkness, there is a just one shaft at the top of the wall for little light that help students to study. There was no bench or desk for the students to sit and study, they had to sit against the wall while bending their knees and set their notebook on their lap to write their lessons and my daughter have to do the same”.

Mr. Jozef Behr said he always pray to God to send help that change their life a bit so that he can provide the right to education to his daughter at once with qualified and trained teacher in a good structured school. 2 years after my daughter’s admission, a charitable foundation visited the school and decided to rebuild the school with all the amenities that a school should have. Mr. Jozef Behr was so thrilled with the happiness that finally God has listened his prayers and now his daughter will have a receive education in proper way. Mr. Behr shared his words “after few months the school was ready and that was the so far, the best thing happened to anyone’s life so far. The school was made of durable material, solid bricks, concrete, metal roofing and cement floor. It has 6 classrooms for all the 150+ students that are going to be educated with trained and professional teachers. Every classroom has a bench-desk for children to sit comfortably and big-wide windows for sunlight and fresh air.”

It’s a truth that southern Africa region is being counted in the poorest countries in the world but the right to education is every child’s right. This small initiative by a charitable trust changed the life of 150+ students and also their parents just like Jozef Behr who is seeing his daughter getting educated in that school in south Kivu.
